MIDI Guitar 3.0.74/3.0.75 update for Mac & Windows!

Hello and thank you for your attention. I checked my security and privacy/ microphone , the app midi guitar is visible and selected , was already indeed and nothing is working.

This sounds more like an Apple issue than a MIDI Guitar issue. Of course you’ve restored your previous working configuration from your macOS Time Machine backup to verify that it is a macOS update issue, right?

Please explain the problem beyond “nothing is working” – specific descriptions enable meaningful assistance.

Have you established that your guitar signal is arriving at your computer via your interface? UA monitoring software should be sufficient for this, but you could also confirm that audio is passing through a plug-in or audio application.

Hi! Thank you for your help , nothing was wrong about my set up except that I had to relaunch my UA Luna session after an update. So I did it and now Midi guitar is back working in standalone.

That’s good news. Now, time to play

Just added the Window version in the top post.

Installed it on de Windows and it works but on Mixcraft it is still not possible to send it directly to an instrument-channel and when I use the 3 channels in MG3 than I can no longer use one of them as an audio channel.I can load guitar-rig 7 in one of the slots but i can’t hear it. When i use FTP then i don’t have string seperation or one of the other Hex tools.

Am i doing things wrong? Please let me know.

this is unclear. a screenshot or two may help. also of the guitar rig placement in the chain.

i don’t know anything about mixcraft but parts of this issue could be solved by using the mg3 over network option.

inside mixcraft you’d have an instance of mg3 with the tracker set to ‘mg3 over network’.

outside mixcraft you’d run mg3 in standalone mode, with the ‘midicaster’ tool.

I tried it but too bad.I can send something out over the network but then I have to use the interface on the stand alone version and Mixcraft don’t like to share the interface.A problem i don’t have with Logic. But too bad that’s Apple only(and Mixraft is Windows only) I can use MG3 with Mixcraft but still not on an instrument track. Is their some one around here who also uses Mixcraft because for the rest i love the workflow on it.

What exactly do you want to do? Typically you insert MG3 to an audio track and route the MIDI output to instrument tracks.

On the iMac that’s my workflow but With Mixcraft that’s not possible,so have to stay on the audio track and use the 3 slots to load VST instruments but i can’t record in midi only audio.

Unfortunately I can’t install the trial version of Mixcraft since windows crashes during installation due to unsigned Kernel drivers in that installation package.
I checked the documentation of Mixcraft and you have three different options to route (and that means also to record) MIDI from a VTST that is outputting MIDI.

It of course requires that you have the MIDI output module in one of your chains in MG3.

Option 1: Load Both VSTs on the Same Instrument Track (Sequential / Chained VSTs)

If your source VST generates MIDI (such as an arpeggiator, MIDI effect, or MIDI-generating tool) and you want it to trigger a Virtual Instrument VST:

  1. Create a Virtual Instrument Track.

  2. Click the Keyboard Icon (Change Instrument / Instrument Preset window).

  3. Load your MIDI-generating VST first in the list.

  4. Immediately below it, load your target Sound-generating VSTi.

  5. Check the box “MIDI Source” (or ensure MIDI output is enabled on the first plugin so signal flows down directly to the instrument below it).

Option 2: Route MIDI via Mixcraft’s “Route To Track” Instrument

Mixcraft provides a built-in routing tool inside the instrument presets menu:

  1. Create a Virtual Instrument Track with your target sound plugin loaded.

  2. Create a second Virtual Instrument Track.

  3. On this second track, click the Keyboard Icon to open the Instrument Preset window.

  4. Under Category, choose Route To Track.

  5. Target your primary instrument track in the preset menu.

Option 3: Virtual MIDI Cable (For Audio Track VST FX)

If your VST plugin is hosted on an Audio Track (e.g., a software guitar tracker/synth like MIDI Guitar or an external MIDI sequencer):

  1. Download a free virtual MIDI driver like loopMIDI (Windows) or loopBe.

  2. Set the MIDI-generating VST/app to output to the virtual MIDI port (e.g., loopMIDI Port 1).

  3. On your target Instrument Track in Mixcraft, click the dropdown arrow next to the ARM button.

  4. Select loopMIDI Port 1 as the MIDI Input Device.

Thanks man the third one did the trick. You are the best and i am happy now.

The new Hex Flash tracker has a slider on each string (0-100) that is default at 20. Anyone know what this does?

Yes, it’s a threshold: when the bar gets over your threshold, notes trigger. Lower threshold for more responsive. Higher for more control. This UI is a bit preliminary.

Hello, It is working great so far on windows. I like the per string threshold and the deep amp sounds great. Quick question, what does “pickup” knob and the “bend/trig” knob do on the flash tracker.

Also, how do you access the tracking presets? I am hoping to be able to store the string threshold, input gain, bend trig, and pick up knobs etc.. per instance. Is that what the tracking presets do?

Also, I noticed that the plugin consistently crashes when I change from hex flash to regular hex. I am on win 11. Running midi guitar 3 inside of blue cat patch work in the newest version of protools.

Oh, thanks for reporting! Will try to reproduce and fix that.

At a first glance, it may have to do with the tuning set. Are you sure you set it correctly?
From top to bottom: (E4, B3, G3, D3, A2, E2)

I have it set in a totally weird tuning set (B1, G2, C3, E3, B2, C#3) but i can’t reproduce it every time. I will see if I can narrow it down.

For tuning. you should have the highest notes at top, and after that, set the audio channels mappings accordingly.

OK i will see if changing that helps stability. Thank you!
