Why can't you use "any input" in Presonus Studio One

Studio One 6 DAW

I need to be able to switch program changes in Studio One 6 for live performance. I can do this with Fishman Triple Play - no problems.
With MIDI guitar 2 I am forced to choose MIDI guitar 2 - which prevents any other device from doing anything in Studio One.
I simply choose “any inputs” with Triple Play and I can track and play midi guitar and program change on the fly with a Gordius or Morningstar pedal.
Am I missing something (I hope so)?
