I was working on a set of classical pieces (mostly Mozart and Bach) on five-string bass and a big pedalboard and rack of gear when I was hit head-on by a woman who was texting while driving in 2010 and lost the ability to control my fingers. It was a very dark time.

One of my neurologists (I have several) found a hand therapist who plays guitar and, after a couple of years of therapy, the chops are almost back to where they were. The thing that’s in my way now is that I can’t afford the gear.
