Hi, the new iPads are on sale for cheap, so I thought about picking one up. I mostly run MG on a laptop, but if I could run it on an iPad with GarageBand, that would make my life easier when traveling. Is there enough juice under the hood to make it happen? Thanks!!
Do you mean this model?
Yes, that is the latest regular 11th gen iPad
AFAIK, that iPad has the same chip as my iPhone 14 Pro and MG3 runs fine on that, though it’s a little difficult to edit due to the display size.
I’m pretty sure any of the M series iPads will get you across the line with a fair bit of headroom if you can swing the cash for one of them. My wife has an iPad Air with the M2 chip and it was pretty powerful when I tested MG3 on it with Animoog Z and a nice amp sim.
I’m thinking about picking up a second-hand iPad with an M1 processor for audio stuff, when I can find one at a friendly price. My 2017 iPad Pro can’t really handle muuch of the audio-MIDI stuff I’m trying to do with it these days.
