I’m using MG3 Hex with windows. Currently experimenting with different rigs. See my posts on the Hardware Requirements section Hardware requirements and recommendations for MG3? - #11 by lwhite

Currently tweaking a mini PC Win 11 pro, i9 cpu, 64 gb ram, TB SSD. working well. SampleTank seems to give me best tracking instruments.

I like your little pc!:grin:. I’m trying to setup my pc for using midi guitar live at the moment. I thought it would be nice to know fellow users and get some ideas from you:). Basically we can help each other as fellow windows users

Here is my midi guitar live setup. This is using studio one 6 show page and im using midi guitar 3 standalone with loopmidi

Is this the same asus Rally you were talking about?

has anyone found a way to disable onedrive/windows backup in win11?

i followed a guide and turned it ‘off’. after a windows update it mysteriously re-enabled itself.

i prefer not to waste any bandwidth/cpu on copying the hundreds of 100mb wav files i generate in a typical month. it doesn’t seem possible to prevent win11 from doing so.

i believe the tl;dr of the following thread is: if you use win11 you will also be using windows backup (unless you guess the magic password, which is not xyzzy).

How do I Turn Off Windows Backup? I do Not Want Any Info in the Cloud for Security Reasons!

I own a computer repair business. I have many clients who want OneDrive turned off because of scanned images of social security cards etc…so I turn it off.

You forced this application on to everyone running Windows 11. What do I tell my clients who don’t want it that it can’t be turned off and their documents are in the cloud.

The amount of ads and blot is unbelievable. With every update you will always find more. Next step is to let the CoPilot creep in and restore anything you may be able to remove.

But for all audio-related use on Windows, check your DPC latency. This gives some kind of measure about the fine grained responsiveness of the system:

No it was the ASUS Rog Ally hand held.

It worked if you didn’t push too many instruments, was the perfect size, but I needed a little more.

the latency on my dell7070 ultra small form factor win10 machine is pretty decent.

part of the reason for my initial gripe is that i keep it off the network as much as possible. but recently i’ve been installing and registering software, and i’m constantly reminded of what an annoyance it can be to have it online. takes longer to boot, spends a crazy amount of time sending who knows what data upstream.

plus it chooses to update when i’m in the middle of serious business (getting mg3hex/net optimized) and it will not take no for an answer.

still, i’m going to stay on win10 for as long as humanly possible, it seems a sure bet that win11 is worse and will become even more so.

Possible Bug Report. I didn’t see a “Windows Bug Report Category”, is there one? I made a video to show what’s happening. Unable to mute one of the three chains. I just thought it may have something to do with my midi devices or specifically the GP-10. Aside from the GP-10 exp pedal sending CC, I have a generic USB midi converter connecting my ATG-1 sending PC messages. I have a USB Sparrow 3 fader controller sending CC. a BOSS EV-1WL exp pedal sending CC through USB as well. I will try removing the GP-10 and see if I can still not mute chain 3. Here’s the video with all those controllers connected right now. https://youtu.be/vmlb4ZhqCPA?si=5UJGGTIFg4_x0Iwe

*update, I tried reversing the muting order, starting by muting Chain 3, then 2, then 1. Doing it that way Chain 1 would not mute, and the midi notes played incorrect pitches and tracked badly. I then Deleted the GP-10 from the set up. And the problem disappeared. I had been using the GP-10 to send CC data to two of the Sample Tank instrument level controls inside SampTank so I could fade in those two instruments with my foot and not have to change the faders,. Guess that is not going to work.

@muiren - thank you for posting this, it is a great reference.

almost every other guide recommends giving background services priority, he makes a convincing argument against that.

he lives in a world with superior fiber and thus suggests keeping all the automated backup stuff running. although he does say he disables it for large video files.

Hi there… I’m trying the Windows version, but I’m a Linux user.
I didn’t notice that a Windows version was available and jumped on as soon as I’ve seen it…
My fault.
Now, is there a way to simply output the midi notes and expressions and stuff, like in MIDI Guitar 2?

<<>>
The stupid I am…
In the Midi Machines, there is MIDI OUTPUT… I didn’t see it… I beg your pardon…
I will test the software with my guitarist at next rehearsal…
For the moment, I’m inputting the output of one synth in MIDI Guitar 3 and outputting its out to another synth… Cool! Latency is negligible… Fantastic…
Oh, install on Linux required zero effort… I’m using Yabridge and Wine-tkg and the only thing needed is a prefix with dxvk installed. Nice!

Thanks,
Fabrizio

There are dozens of videos and well-written docs, so I’m not sure that I understand what is confusing you.

MG2 and MG3 take a guitar’s standard analog signal and generates a mono or poly MIDI output. MG3 Beta introduces several refinements and features like hexaphonic capture and processing.

I will test the software with my guitarist at next rehearsal

it really is helpful to have four hands when tweaking gain/gate/dynamics/strike filter.

thanks for mentioning this - it was the missing piece i needed on a fresh mxlinux install.

Hi Muiren,
thanks a lot for your help…
As you might read from my message, even if the word EDIT doesn’t show up (my mistake), I’ve sorted out what I was missing by myself.
Thanks a lot for your help, anyway: much appreciated.
Fabrizio

Happy to help, as much as I can.
You can DM me if you need further help in that direction, not very much as a guitarist because I’m not.
Cheers,
Fabrizio
