i’ve attempted this with a singer with excellent pitch/control/chops and was not successful.
regardless of if i asked her to sing ‘oohs’ or ‘ahs’ or whatever i could not get note to midi to work for more than a note or two.
i believe that the primary issue is that a guitar string has very predictable physics but a vocal cord does not.
i hate to discourage anyone from trying something new, so please do experiment with the trial. but i would not recommend purchasing mg3 for use with vocals.
You have saved me a bunch of experimenting. THANK YOU for the quick REPLY!
I will now explore other ways to possibly get my voice to trigger a midi instrument. (for instance, a google search says, “ Yes, Antares Auto-Tune (specifically Pro and Artist versions) features MIDI functionality that can detect vocal pitch and output it as MIDI data, though it is primarily designed to receive MIDI to control the pitch (Target Notes) rather than act solely as an audio-to-MIDI converter.”
