I play a 5 string bass guitar. Right now midi bass 3 is limited to note E1 when outputting midi. Any chance you can extend that range down to B0 so I can use the low string?
Edit: I see the documentation says it can go down to B0 but when I click E1 bass, it only switches between E1 and E2 guitar, so perhaps this is actually a bug and not a feature request. I’m on Mac OS 26.
MB is capped at E1, but thanks for reporting this hex B0 issue. I will get this sorted out. There should basically be no lower bound on the hex tracker.
Hi @JamO, it would be great if, in MB3 Standard, the upper strings of the bass from the D string (or from the D note on the A or E string), G string and C string onwards would work as well polyphonically as in MG3 Standard when an additional single bass note is played on the B, E or A strings.
This would allow you to combine bass and rhythm well in a small band
Well.. that’s the problem with a single jack and the problem solved with hex pickups…. we don’t know “the upper strings” a priori. Everything has to be analyzed and split out of one big polyphonic mess. So for every bass note slap, all the other notes get disturbed and the usual way to make up for this is latency. So, deeper bass, more latency.
Physics is a harsh master. Fewer cycles per second, more seconds needed per wave. Still there are cases where the latency is an acceptable trade for better tracking; namely, post-processing as opposed to live tracking. I would love to have the option of increased range at the expense of latency so I can adjust the tracked midi output later.
I just put a GK-5B hex pickup on my Mustang strung piccolo bass and it tracks fantastic with MG3 Hex. I wish I had done this months ago. Still hoping for better tracking with regular bass octave notes, but playing in synth bass parts with correct bass string spacing is awesome with this setup.
