Hi, yesterday I downloaded the demo version of MIDI Guitar 2. I’ve just wasted at least 4 hours trying to get it to work on my computer. I have Windows 11 Home, a Focusrite 18i8 sound card and Presonus Studio One 7.1.104411 Win x 64 build. Am I incompatible with MIDI Guitar 2? I’m just glad I downloaded the demo before I purchased it. Please let me know what I can do? Thanks in advance for helping.
Thanks, Keith
if you’d care to provide details that would help us.
does mg2 run? no sound? the wrong sound?
what is the problem?
the best path forward: run mg2 in standalone mode. tell us what works or doesn’t.
also consider starting with the mg3 beta, unless you have a specific need for mg2.
I tried it both as a standalone and in my Daw. No sound either way. In the standalone, I hear sound only when I tape the built-in keyboard. I can hear my guitar, but it’s clean, no plugin. It shows up in my DAW but no sound other than my dry guitar. I’ll try downloading MIDI Guitar 3 when I have some time.
Thanks,
Keith
the focusrite has a software control panel. you should be able to mute your (raw) guitar input there. verify that ‘software (daw)’ is not muted.
make sure mg2/mg3 in standalone is using the asio focusrite driver.
Hi Kimyo! I download the MIDI Guitar 3 Demo, and was able to use it as a standalone. I will try it today in Studio One. If it works, I’ll buy it! Thanks for your help!
I find using MG3 standalone works best for me as well. I can easily load VIs into it and play without opening a DAW. But when I do use it with a DAW, I can have 3 different setups to control different types of plugins. One in single channel, no bends mode for pianos, one in multi MIDI 1.0 mode for non-MPE synths that can respond on mulitple channels (ala mono mode for traditional guitar synths), and one for MPE synths. I have a foot controller set up to turn the three chains on and off, so it lets me be as creative a I need to be without having to setup for each instance. And this is the great thing about MG3 is you can freely use it how you need to for your workflow.
