audio out is going to require a cable regardless of the type of dock you use.
bluetooth audio won’t suffice for your needs.
if you want to use an amp you need one of the newer irigs.

Officially no, it’s from “Zivix” and might behave different to the FTP (I don’t have a Jamstik).
You could use the IK Multimedia iRig Pro Duo I/O. It has a USB C cable as input for iOS (or Windows) devices and accepts a 2.5mm MIDI input for pedals etc. If it shall be wireless you use any wireless guitar system.
Similar to that irig but connected to phone through usb c with more connections in/out. Do they use proprietary cables on that irig?
Hahaha…..True, Lofileif has the abilities to let everything sound great!
the IK Multimedia iRig Pro Duo I/O looks like a nice device. XXit doesn’t need proprietary cables.XX
sorry, it comes with a proprietary cable for lightning, lightning usb and usb c.
it also offers a future upgrade path if you decide you’d prefer an ipad over the iphone.
Thanks, that does work but also the irig hd x is ideal for jamming. I missed those, seem to have got lost down a rabbit hole with more complex stuff for some reason!
Final edit.
There seems to have been a slew of these in the past but many now discontinued such as alesis io dock 2, behringer istudio and focusrite itrack is still produced. There are other more expensive versions as well. These are for ipad, I dont see why smaller versions cant be made for iPhones.
Re pedal format, sonicake smart box, came out January, ticks all the boxes.
i think you need to differentiate between audio interfaces and ‘mg on dedicated hardware’.
the former are available in many formats, with pricing starting at ~$40 and going up from there.
the latter requires a cpu which one might describe as a v8 instead of a 2 cylinder motor and which is correspondingly more expensive.
many of the features you’ve listed are not available on the sonicake smart box, no button/midi control, no wifi, no amp connection. most importantly it doesn’t have a screen suitable for use with mg3 (it’s too tiny).
so you’re not talking apples to apples here. but from our conversation, it appears to me that what you do want is an audio interface, not a device capable of running mg2/3.
after all, you already have the iphone for that. it’s screen and cpu are sufficient.
lastly, the sonicake products do not appear to me to be engineered for long life and reliable performance.
I never suggested the iphone/iPad was not the centrepiece equipment. Youre right re audio interfaces, having as many audio interfaces as possible makes connecting much easier and less cluttered. As much as i like the iphone/ipad its limited ports makes for myriad cables and converters (less of an issue with newer models) and I prefer a simpler more direct setup. My original post was a suggestion, it doesn’t exist but it would be nice if it did.
You mentioned a footpedal format which is why i suggested the new sonicake. It has most of the connections I listed, though not all, and its cheap.
Looking into this more generally, many devices have provided extensive audio interfaces but are now discontinued or v expensive professional setups, or if cheaper more limited. I cant find all i need in one so far. My ideal would be an updated version of the focusrite itrack. But tech is changing fast and by way of example an ipad running loopypro, aum and MG can be easily controlled through apps such as TouchOSC for clarity/simplicity and has replaced lots of hardware. However, for me some hardware controls still have their place and you still need physical audio interfaces. Given MG2/3 does everything sonicake does and much more I think it would be well placed operating within its own dedicated hardware in addition to the app much like sonicake and others do already.
I don’t know your craftsmanship skills; what you’re looking for isn’t commercially available, but can easily be built yourself with just a few components.
At the end you have all necessary components in one enclosure!
Great idea but its not a skill set i possess!
MG3 is amazing, I spoke to a luthier about it and hed never heard of it. Im not surprised given myriad apps. It has all the functionality Sonicake has, i think it has a multitrack looper now as well which is about $300 for sheeran looper + in hardware form, but also brings analogue to midi, no reason you cant convert it back, like the Boss gm 800 and similar.
Those kinds of synths are really expensive and an external box could offload some of the extra processing, esp signal processing and latency issues, to complement the app/computer software for live playing. So you could create complex presets of different sounding guitars, different tuning or completely different instruments, in addition to all the usual effects you can add, on the ipad/phone download them to a dedicated box, and switch between them all during a live set. I think theres a place for that in the market if the cost is right.
So lots of digging around and it turns out there may be a way to get this working with iphone/ipad.
Needs to be an iphone15 at least for usb c connection to processor/bus etc. Connected to the OTG usb c on the soundcake smart box. Connect guitar to line in and run MG3 with an output through AUM or numa player or whatever. Then audio output selected to line out in sonicake with re amp selected in settings on sonicake and you’ll have the full function. Something like irig HD X would also work for same reasons but for amp effects youd need amplitube or similar.
Ive emailed Jam Origin to confirm if this works. Obviously the cost of iphone 15 is sticking point re portability because I have an android phone but can do same thing through PC.
When you buy any iRig xxx device you will get a free “light” version of Amplitube. This you can insert as audio FX in MG3 already.
in terms of output, once there is an amp sim in the chain, an FRFR speaker is the top choice. you mentioned a guitar amp earlier, generally this will not deliver the best results.
also check out the nam modeling in mg3, it may be all you need.
nam models available here:
Id not considered the speaker at all, thats really helpful.
Ive heard of NAM, sonicake has some spaces for them and IR, but ive yet to dig into it properly. Ive just downloaded MG3 so looking forward to getting into it. This has been a steep learning curve but very fruitful.
Thanks for your and Dutti67’s comments its been really helpful in focusing my mind on what im trying to do and how to go about it.
