Help with a midi controller

Hi dear users of Midi Guitar.

can please someone help me to choose a midi controller for MG 2 and 3?
I was thinking to buy the AKAI Professional LPD8 MKII

Will this controller work with MG ?

I would like to control midi commands in MG, especially in MG 3

I use MG only in live, not recording and i can’t use a foot pedal as i play electronic drums at the same time i am playing guitar so i can’t press any pedals.

But i have my laptop on a table and there is space for a midi controller.

Sorry about my ignorance midi is something very new to me.

Thank you in advance for your time to answer.

Yes, it will work. Any MIDI controller will work with MG2/3. You just need to figure out which one is right for your needs.

I’d recommend making a list of the parameters you need to control remotely and work from there. Think about things you need to turn ON/OFF (like a stomp box) and things that need to sweep across a range of values (like a Wah pedal).

Thank you very much for your help, i appreciate it a lot

I want to control very simple things, such turn on off the different instruments in MG 3 as i play

So i can add some more excitement in the chorus of the songs

For ON/OFF switching, it would be a good idea to check that the pads send CC messages. They may only send MIDI note ON/OFF messages or MIDI program changes.

Of course, rotary dials will work but that’s not quite as intuitive.

Thank you very much that you tell me that.
I just asked the Chatgpt , this is what it answered:

Yes, the pads on the AKAI Professional LPD8 MKII can send MIDI CC (Control Change) messages. The LPD8 MKII allows you to configure each pad to send either MIDI Note On/Off messages or MIDI CC messages through its Editor Software.

That were my thoughts regarding the pads. I checked it it can be changed to CCs as well.

Thank you so much for taking the time to help me

Very kind of you :slightly_smiling_face:

here’s one more to check out:

the advantages over the akai: led rings on each knob show the current setting, more knobs/buttons and a big fader (you might use this for the blend between guitar and synths).

but i also own that akai and it performs well.
