Hello,
So happy that MG3 has a windows/hex version out.
I use my GP-10 as input. It has digital out for each string from the hex-PU. And also digital out for the regular pickups. I can get them all seperate in Ableton Live.
I’d like to use MG3 for midi to synth but als as a guitar modeller for the regular pick up. And combining these sounds in real time.
That would make all my stomp boxes and modellers (Boss gt-10 etc) obsolete.
It seems that selecting hex as the tracker excludes the normal pickups.
Have hou tried using the audio input device on one of the MG3 channels? I believe this allows you to choose the normal input channels 1 or 2. I personally use another host app (Ginger Audio Caster) in parallel with MG3 standalone to select the stereo output from my SY-1000. That way I can separately mix the MiDI synths from the virtual guitars.
why not use one ableton track for the mag pickup input, and put your modeling stuff there?
then use mg3hex on another, and if midi is required on the first, send the midi to it.
blend the two tracks using the a/b slider.
As @SnowBlack said, you can use the audio input device on a dedicated MG3 chain if you want the mono guitar to enter MG3 for audio processing. Of course, you can also send the GP-10’s D.I. signal directly to the DAW as @kimyo suggested.
But both methods require you to configure the GP-10 to send a D.I.-type signal to output 1 and/or 2. I set this up a while back with the mag and modelled guitars panned hard L/R on 1/2 so I could funnel them wherever while 3-8 handle feeding MG3 Hex for pitch-to-MIDI action.
