I purchased a license after testing Midi Guitar 3 with my hexaphonic pickup. I’ve used MG2 on iOS for years. I was able to activate the MG2 license on Windows. However, I can’t activate MG3 and keep getting the activation screen. It asks for my email, which I provide. The first time I received an activation code, which I used. However, it never worked. The code still doesn’t work. I’m at a loss for why this is happening.
If you use the MG3 HEX tracker you need an add-on license. So I think you see the interruption dialog for the HEX license?
I never saw anything about an add on license? I clicked on purchase license while using the Hex tracker. Went through with that. Paid $149. But then I only get a license for Midi Guitar 2? I thought the license was transferable. Again I see nothing about add on license. Is it another $149? I can’t check my computer right now, so I’ll see about this add on license.
Yeah. It’s really unfortunate there’s no way to purchase only the HEX functionality rather than it being an add-on. I tested the HEX tracker and immediately bought the lifetime license thinking it included HEX (without reading the add-on requirement prior to testing, my fault). I did this through the pop-up saying to purchase a license while using the HEX tracker. Clicking from there only mentions a lifetime license for $149, which was my absolute limit in the amount I can afford. From the click-through in the pop-up warning, there was nothing about an add-on even though it was clicked while using HEX, which is the only reason I was willing to pay $149. MG2 on iOS serves my purposes otherwise. I don’t need MG3 without HEX but now I’ve spent $149 on something I don’t need.
As I wrote on the email, i’m sorry for any confusion and we can refund the full amount no problem - just let me know.
Basically MG3 is a polyphonic jack-to-MIDI solution. People have been buying this since 2012 and we are making this very big update now. MG HEX is an add-on, newly released.
We will try to improve the communication here. I thought we had been quite clear about this in every place possible. As soon as you use the HEX tracker it will lead you to the add-on shop page.
Thank you. I was wrong about everything. The software explanations were clear. My problem was caused, in part, by wishful thinking, lazy reading, and worsening eyesight. $300 for the HEX tracker is more than fair for such amazing software. And $149 for a lifetime license for MG3 is even better.
I’ll have to wait until I can afford the add-on price. I’ve always avoided using PC software for my instruments and sounds due to a high rate of inflation and excessive prices. This has always been depressing to me because I couldn’t justify such prices when I could get another guitar, or mandolin, or lap steel, etc., for the same price.
I use iOS because the cost of apps is about 10 times less, often for the same thing. Midi Guitar 2 on iOS is the best software I’ve ever used and remains indispensable for what I’m doing musically. I never needed to purchase the PC license because MG2 on iOS is beyond capable for my needs. Will an iOS version of MG3 with the HEX tracker be available in the future? I’m aware the SY-1000 will never have audio interface capabilities on iOS, but I can use a hex pickup divider and six inputs on my other audio interface.
