My frustration is that the Chains act like an audio rack but they don’t act the same for midi.
Here is a hypothetical question (just for simplicity) to illustrate the problem.
Let’s say I have a piano plug on the chain and let’s say I want to use a “midi filter plug” to filter out all the C notes. (aka all notes will pass except for C).
If I put this filter plug on the chain before the Piano plug it will not work because MG3 will send the C note to both plugs.
No, the Chain will process each Midi Machines and the output of the first Midi Machine becomes the input to the next, so you should definitely be able to compose them as you describe. And same for audio pedals.
So, I should be able to use one instance of UVI Falcon as a MIDI FX and have the MIDI pass on over to anything after (below it) it now? That would be awesome.
But wouldn’t that call for MIDI Fx category plugins to be scanned? I have a few, and none of them appear in MG3 right now.
Just an FYI you can probably achieve all this with Soundigy MIDI Lab.
MIDI Lab loads as an instrument in MG3, you can make it receive MIDI and output audio.
MIDI Lab is also a VST host so inside MIDI Lab you can do anything you can ever imagine.
I have it but it’s a hassle, MG3 is a plug inside your DAW, MIDI Lab is a plug inside MG3 and your instruments are plugins inside your MIDI Lab. Just keeping the correct page on top of the screen becomes a battle however you can achive anything with this setup.
Yeah, I hear you. I use DDMF Metaplugin if I want to use a particular MID Fx with a particular synth. Everything loads inside of that, but it is like a Russian nesting doll setup to open a plugin-host in another plugin host, and is quickly becomes uninspiring.
