Is there a way to send MIDI commands directed to MG2 for controlling volume (via expression pedal) … as opposed to passing it through to an associated plugin (e.g. Trooper)? NOTE: MG3 is not a viable option for me at this time.
I’m having an issue with MG2 and KING OF FM. I can use an expression pedal to control volume of KOF when I set it up in the stand alone app. It will work just fine - and stays in memory.
However, if I subsequently use KOF inside MG2, I not only lose the expression pedal capability, but , the next time I open KOF standalone, the MIDI binding between volume and expression pedal is lost. I don’t have this issue with any other synth plugs ins (e.g. Trooper, Big Brass, etc.).
First I MIDI learned and sent CC#02 via a MIDI controller to King of FM (standalone) to manipulate the Main Volume parameter. There isn’t a problem with the binding.
Then, I tested King of FM (AUv3) loaded in MG2 (standalone). The MIDI control binding is saved in King of FM from standalone (it has to be, as the MIDI assignments are not accessible in MG2). MIDI CC#02 passes perfectly to the Main Volume dial when I set the same MIDI controller as the MIDI input source in MG2.
Next, I reloaded the King of FM (standalone) and the binding remains intact and functional.
Please note, King of FM doesn’t allow MIDI port/device selection. So if you’re using MG2 standalone to send MIDI data to King of FM it won’t be able to differentiate between control data sent from different sources. Maybe this could cause an issue.
All this to say, no problem here. It must be something specific to the way your’e using the apps.
FWIW, you might prefer using MG2 plus synths in a host like AUM. It’s easier to route and control all your audio-MIDI signals in an environment like that.
