Dear lovely MG3 fans,
recently, I bought a midi controller (m-vave chocolate plus) and try to configure it for MG3. I saw a youtube video showing that this will work but I am strugeling here with setup. I describe my steps so you can see where I stuck:
Firstly, I am already succesfully using the controller to control plugins (Neural DSP stuff). I assigned the for buttons of the controller to send on/off (127/0) via CC20, CC21,CC22,CC23.
I make a track in Logic Pro X and open up MG3 as a “midi controlled effect”. Inside MG3 I set my guitar input channel as side chaine. Everything works fine, the plugins plays as expected.
I put a software synth on the first channel/second slot of MG3 and on slot one I add a “sustain” effect from the given MG3 midi plugins. After this I double click on the first button of the midi bay and assign CC20 to this button. Thereafter I draw a midi connection in between the On/Off button of the sustain effect and the first slot of the midi bay (where I assigned CC20). When pushing the corresponding switch on my controller inside MG3 the preset list opnes up and switches to another preset, which is what I don’t want. I just to turn on/off the sustain switch and not the preset list at all….
Please tell me where I go wrong or maybe there is a good youtube video explaining the exact procedure…
I hope someone with experience shares a little knowledge…
Cheers, Krokus
It sounds to me like you have changed CC14 or CC15 to CC20. These are used for patch up and down in MG3 by default. You should not use those CCs (15-16) or change the assignments for those two leftmost connectors, if you want to be on the safe side.
Set them back to CC14/CC15 and change any of the others to CC20, and let me know if that solved it?
Okay! I will try that. Thanks a lot for your thoughts. Is there documentation about the CC implementation inside MG3? I think I need to learn whole thing for my ideas.
Well, I did these videos a while ago, and most of it still apply I think. Development have pushed forward, so the occasional detail might be off
.
In the “Another look at the MIDI Guitar 3 interface” video I go over the Patch bay.
I will study this NOW ![]()
Your video is answering every question. Fantastic! Thanks for that.
I could solve my problem in a way which is not mentioned anywhere. When using the M-VAVE Chocolate Plus controller on a Mac it appears as two different versions with two different names. 1. SINCO and 2. FootCtrlPlus . In MG3 both appear in the list of midi devices.Choose FootCrtlPlus in MG3 and it will work fine.
Thanks a lot, problem solved. Now I willl go on learning from your video!
