MG3 is loading and playing patches from Kontakt 7.x successfully but trying to recall a saved patch that uses Kontakt locks MG3 and requires a hard restart. I’m having the same issue with both the standalone and VST. Anyone have similar issues or is it just me?
What version of MG3, and what Kontakt instruments? And is there anything else in the patch. Any othere plugins, modules or controller connections? (A picture of the MG3 UI is probably the best, if you can provide one)
Thanks for the response, love your vids and that wonderful Carvin headless!!
MG3 3.0.50, Midi Captain footswitch controller
I’ve tried different Kontakt instruments - I’ve even tried saving an MG3 patch using Kontakt (but without loading a Kontakt instrument in the vst) and got the same result. I’ve tried reinstalling Kontakt completely, but MG still crashes. I guess it’s time to wipe it all out and reinstall everything LOL. I just wanted to make sure it wasn’t a known bug
I am also on a Mac unfortunately, so I can’t verify or debunk either. But I am using Kontakt as we speak, saving and recalling patches without issue (right now ). I haven’t heard of any other users having issues now, but I’ll take notice and see if there might be something in some latest update or something.
Have you tried saving a Patch with noting but Kontakt? No footcontrollers or even other MIDI Guitar modules like Dynamics or Sustainer.
Or even saving just Kontakt with no instrument loaded to a patch, and see if that also crashes?
I can confirm that when I save a patch with kontakt 7, even without loading an instrument in it, MG3 (last version) no longer responds when I want to reload the patch.
Same thing with kontakt 6.
But another problem: when I open MG3 again, there are no more instruments available in the directory:
Ok, I’ve got it working again! It’s a VST2 issue - when I use the VST3 version of Kontakt, MG3 no longer crashes. Can you confirm this, @Herold? I ended up uninstalling a bunch of VST’s while troubleshooting this, so it could have been a conflict with one of those.
I don’t have much time to test other instruments or plugins other than Kontakt to see if some of them cause crashes.
I’ll try from time to time but I’ve currently got 1038 plugins detected and I haven’t finished scanning all the custom folders…
I am just talking about clicking the “Click here for Plugins” in the Patch window really. For me that only takes a second and I am good to go. So if you have a much lengthier process I can understand any reluctance.
