Just want to say that I’m liking MG3 a lot better than MG2. I’m running Cubase 13 Pro thru a MOTU Ultralite MK5. It’s faster and far more articulate. I am running at 48k 16 bit and it very fast and catching most of the notes. Furthermore, the latency is basically down to nothing when recording. I hope you add presets back in for bass and cello. Those are two instruments that I love to hear on EP’s and would really like to have those provided. Thank You.
that motu should also run fine at 24bits. this isn’t going to significantly affect note detection or latency but 24bits gives you a lot more headroom/resolution than 16bit.
i believe restoring instruments like the bass and cello is on the update list.
The older MOTU Ultralite mk3 Hybrid runs just fine at 48k / 24bits. I record all audio in Windows 10 like this.
I don’t own a Mac or iOS app since i use Windows, but my question are the instruments available (guitar, piano, rhodes, etc.) the same in those apps or do they have additional or different instruments? I watched a video where someone was using a Mac and playing a different instrument than what’s available on the Windows beta, but perhaps they had a vst instrument like Kontact playing…couldn’t tell. Speaking of that, I am having a difficult time setting up Kontact to work within Midi Guitar 3 beta. I must be setting it up incorrectly.
on the instruments you’re looking for (cello/rhodes) i think they may be in mg3, but not as easy to access as in mg2.
load the fm or am synths (jamo instruments) and click through the patches. what you’re looking for may be in there.
it is kind of a headache to find the one you want, as there is no option to present a list.
Thanks. I found what I needed in the DX synth presets. Another thing I noted was that there appears to be a limit on how many measures I can record using the Midi Looper. Is there a secret to opening this up or is there a restriction because this is a Beta. Thanks. Enjoying the tool. Not using it like LoLeif but its coming along. I am a bit concerned because I can’t get MG3 to recognize Kontact 8 Player. I have several purchased modules I use but so far no luck getting it to find Kontact. It’s found about 2 thirds of my other instruments and effects, but it’s not finding and recognizing everything. Just FYI.
most likely the missing instruments are in a different vst folder.
and it’s also probably not vst3’s which are missing. this is a list of common vst2 locations:
Format | Path | Extension |
---|---|---|
VST2 | C:\Program Files\VSTPlugins | |
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins | ||
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST2 | ||
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\VST2 | ||
32-bit plug-ins on 64-bit Windows: | C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins | .dll |
when you figure out where kontakt is installed, scan that folder in mg3.
i’ve been an aspiring looper since before the turn of the century, starting out with the lexicon jamman. it pains me to admit that i don’t understand the mg3 looper. but it does seem like longer loops are possible. mostly i just use it to audition synth patches at the moment.
