No not certain at all, but I was under the impression that ever since the GK5-KIT-G7 was released that VG-800 which now support 7-strings would also support seven separate streams of audio over USB.
Strange if everything works with a GK5-KIT-G7 installed except audio over USB for each string when it comes to the VG-800 and 7 strings.
But I’m certain both the GP-10 and SY-1000 are limited to only six streams of audio over USB due to being GK3 and not the newer GK5.
But is the VG-800 also only limited to six streams of audio over USB?
That would be a real blunder by Boss/Roland that I hope they fix in a firmware update.
That would be awesome, but if VG-800 has seven streams of audio over USB and is not limited to only six I’d be very happy with a super simple setup:
GK5-KIT-G7 —> VG-800 —> one instance MG3 Hex 7 streams of audio over USB
in terms of mg3hepta if you figure that mg3hex is probably serving only 1 out of every 25 midiguitar users, and that mg3hepta would likewise only be a small fraction of hex users, it’s just not a practical investment of programming effort.
even if there was funding for the task of revising the many devices, where would you stop? certainly it wouldn’t make sense to limit the revision to 7 strings. 10 strings for the chapman stick players would be appreciated by them i’m sure.
but would it generate more than a handful of sales?
In my ignorance regarding programming it didn’t occur to me that extending the current hex to maybe even doing 8-string octa would be a chore and problematic.
If that is the case then there is no need for @JamO to even bother with it!
Thought it was as easy as only adding 1 or 2 more channels to the current 6 channels.
