Hi guys,
I am totally new here. I just installed MG2 an it works perfectly as a standalone application. Unfortunately I am not managing to find it in Ableton or Logic, to use it in the DAW. I am missing something?

if you’re just getting started with mg, it may be better to work with the beta release of mg3.
you can download it here:

mg2 should show up in all versions of ableton. you may have a custom vst64 folder set which is different that the default installation folder. mg3 will also give you vst3, which will work in ableton 10 or higher.
what os, and which versions of ableton/logic are you running?
Since you say you’re using Logic, do you have an Apple silicone or Intel device?
Assuming you put the MG2 plugins in the correct folder locations, both programs that you mentioned should be able to scan and access at least the Audio Unit versions of the plugin. On older macs, the VST2 version will also work fine. If you want to use VST3 in Ableton Live, you’ll need to update to MG3.
In some cases, after installing new Audio Units on older systems, macOS needs to be restarted for them to register in Logic Pro. Worth a try.
Assuming all those steps have been taken, can you see MG2 in the Logic Pro plugin manager?
Hi Kimyo and Vaultnaemsae,
Thanks so much for your quick help! MG3 is now installed—while I’m still figuring out the interface, it’s running fine in standalone mode and I managed to open it in Ableton. I haven’t yet worked out how to route MG3’s MIDI output to a Synth VST, but that’s another project.
I’m testing it to see if it works well with my setup before buying. My Mac Mini is from 2018 (Intel 3.2GHz 6-core i7), so performance isn’t quite like the latest Macs.
Regarding installation: with MG3 I didn’t move anything into a specific folder—it just worked. Is it the case that MG2 needs to be placed in the correct folder manually, but MG3 handles that automatically during installation?
Best regards, and thanks again
It’s certainly more than enough to get you up and running.
Yes. You have to manually place the AU and the VST2 plugins in their respective folders. IIRC, the MG2 installer provides alias links to the folders for you to drag them in.
