I see you can now purchase a license. Will this version support 6 discreet audio inputs from a USB audio interface on Windows so that you can assign the 6 separate inputs (one USB interface) to strings within Hex?
Also, computer CPU usage aside, is there an advantage to using Hex over using 6 instances of MIDI Guitar 2?
the simple answer is yes, mg3hex will support 6 inputs coming from an audio interface. provide details on your setup for additional clarification, some audio interfaces/daws require a bit of routing config.
having used six instances of mg2 for some time and mg3hex on the same system i can say that the cpu usage in either case is minimal and neither option is superior in this regard.
string retuning will be slightly easier in hex. muting open strings, not much difference. chord shifting is one thing hex has over 6xmg2’s.
edit to add: i forgot that in order to do string retuning with mg2 i was using an external plugin. that is a nice advantage of mg3hex (native analog audio processing).
I’ve had a license for MG2 for years. I understand Hex is an additional addon purchase. Is Hex ready for prime time, or is that purchase link in the jam-live-shop just an early bird thing? Or will a purchase just let me download and use the latest Beta version, which I would hope is somewhat functional?
From my point of view the latest Beta version of MG3 Hex is very reliable and free of major bugs. I don’t assume that bigger changes will be made to the core functions until the official release.
but try it out beforehand to make sure everything is working to your satisfaction. in mg3 you can select hex in the tracker options. it’ll time out after a bit.
