I already gave you the bulk of the info in the previous post — you did read the linked post, right?
And of course after connecting your 13-pin guitar/breakout system to your interface, you’ve confirmed that you are receiving audio correctly and you know the channels that each string is transmitting on, right?
And, it goes without saying that you’ve already set your connected interface as the I/O device in GP5.
Once MG3 is instantiated, if you poke around inside its setting a little bit, you’ll notice an option to give the plugin 8 inputs. Do that. MG3 receives 8 channels of audio. 1/2 are for dry mono guitar inputs. Channels 3-8 are for your hex inputs.
In GP5, don’t choose 5.1, choose 4th order ambisonics — as previously instructed. In my experience, when choosing other multichannel options, the channels do not appear in the correct sequence. After selection, right click on the plugin in wiring view and give it 8 inputs (not 256). 8 pins will appear at the input area of the plugin now.
Now you have to manually wire your interface’s audio channels to these inputs.
If you’ve taken these steps, MG3 should be receiving audio on the 8 channels you set up.
You can use the MIDI out in the bottom right hand corner of the plugin in wiring view (same for all plugins in GP5). Activate a MIDI output module in a chain. send MIDI to your target synth. For macOS, don’t use MG3 as an Audio Unit if you want to use the direct MIDI wiring method.
I’m an SY-1000 user, not a breakout cable plus interface user. It may be a bit more straightforward for the BOSS devices. Depending on how many inputs your interface has and which inputs you’ve connected your breakout system to, you want to make sure that the input channels are configured correctly at the top level of the GUI. In the box where you see the input activity (lasers/strobes/whatever you want call them) confirm that the hex input channels align with your strings.
I don’t have a computer in front of me right now. I’m just going from memory.
If you get stuck, please let us know.
I have been meaning to make a video on GP5/MG3 for months but time has evaded me. I’ll keep it in the to do list.
