After adding the MIDI Guitar Beta 3.0.55 plug-in to an Ableton Live 12 Suite audio track, I noticed that when I clicked the configure button, the MIDI Guitar 3 plug-in opened to a black screen. If I enable the audio track’s record button and strike a string, I hear an electric piano sound. I’m fully licensed and activated. I can’t get past the black screen. If I launch the MIDI Guitar 3 standalone, the MIDI Guitar 3 interface opens without any issues.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this issue.
I apologize for not specifying that the problem was occurring on my Windows PC using OS 11. I am using the MIDI Guitar Beta 3.0.55 plug-in. I just edited the title to state that I was using Windows OS 11.
I don’t encounter this issue when using the MIDI Guitar Beta 3.0.55 plug-in on my MacBook Pro M3 Max.
Thank you for reporting. Im trying to think of what could have happened…
The electric piano sound - is that coming from MG? If yes, I assume it must be part of your Ableton project and maybe MG loads some old patch from a previous beta that may no longer work. Please try to drop in a new instance of MG3 somewhere in Ableton - does that work?
I’m starting off with a brand new Ableton Live 12 Suite (Windows) project.
On an audio track, I add the MIDI Guitar 3 plug-in.
When I open the MIDI Guitar 3 plug-in, I see a black screen. However, if I strum or simply strike a string, I hear what appears to be an electric piano sound coming from MIDI Guitar 3.
I added the MIDI Guitar 3 plug-in to another audio track with the same black screen results.
If I open the MIDI Guitar 3 standalone app, it opens without any issues.
I uninstalled MIDI Guitar 3 and re-installed. I noted the installation locations.
Just for the heck of it, I opened Ableton Live 12 Suite on the better of my two monitors. When I dragged the MIDI Guitar 3 plug-in to an audio track while Ableton Live 12 Suite was displaying the better of my two monitors, MIDI Guitar 3 opened and displayed the interface perfectly. For whatever reason, the lower quality monitor was the cause of MIDI Guitar 3 hanging.
So, thank you, kimyo, for pointing me in the right direction.
