I put a Gain Control from the midi machine list into one of the chains. It works, but I’d like to control it with an expression pedal. I can place a cable from the CC 11 box in the lower left panel to the on off switch of the Gain Control, but not to the dial. The expression pedal will turn it off or on, but I want it to rotate the dial, not just turn it off or on.
Correct, that doesn’t work. Why don’t you simply control the chains output fader?
i’d also use gain control via external control if available.
for some synth patches i need to bump up or tone down the input gain to hit the sweet spot.
also i’d love to be able to use one knob for the transpose setting instead of transpose on/off.
and while i’m at it, external control of input gain/dynamics/gate would be useful when optimizing patches. i don’t see using that in a performance environment, but i experiment with those more often than i thought i would.
I already have hardware faders on my music stand linked to each chain output in order to balance the levels, but I would like to use an exp pedal one instrument. CC7 works for some instruments, but some instruments have a weaker output and the gain control can bump up the volume a bit more to match other instruments.
