MIDI violin is working really well for me!
Wanted to post about a technique I was finding success with, which is to use the midi violin software in tandem with Ableton’s envelope follower plugin. That way, the synth that I’m driving with the MIDI notes follows the same amplitude as my original violin sound.

you know, this morning i woke up saying to myself, you know, i’ve never seen a gameboy controlled by an electric violin before, that’s sad, and then, lo and behold, you deliver.
i’d love to hear what happens with pressure-sensitive mpe patches controlled by violin. it seems to me that bowed instruments are going to be far superior to guitar in this arena.
i haven’t messed around with the envelope follower yet, it’s now much closer to the top of my list. thanks.
I need to check out some MPE synths. Part of the reason I did the envelope follower was mGB doesn’t have MPE support.
I just downloaded the newest version of the beta, quite nice that it’s a plugin now, seems to work great inside Ableton directly.
