The beta MG3 iOS information lists iPads from 2021 and later as recommended. I’ve been using an iPad Air 4 (2020) with A14 Bionic processor (which includes 16 core Neural Engine) with a MOTU M4 USB interface. Since the most recent update, I’ve been getting alerts about my interface and/or processor not able to keep up. Sometimes, things run just fine, other times, not. I’d be interested to learn what others have been experiencing. Thanks!
I would think the A14 is good enough. Not having much issues here on A12Z.
The alert is a bit aggressive at the moment, just so that I can collect feedback on performance. So I’m curious:
- Do you actually feel any tracking degradation when that alert shows?
- Please try to select the MG2 tracker instead of the MG3 expressive. Then no issues?
It has occurred with patches I’ve created as well as the test patch. Most often when the warning appears, it does not process pitch to MIDI, sometimes randomly sounding digital noise which also appears on the waveform monitor in the mixer module. Sometimes a change to another preset works, or quitting and reopening the app is necessary. When it works, tracking is great and very responsive! The CPU usage usually rests between 8 & 10 o’clock on the meter in the upper right of the screen. Notice on two of the attached screen shots with warning message, the CPU is barely registering. I’ll remember to set to MG2 tracker next time this occurs and will report back. Also just updated to iPadOS to 18.6. Two other issues: When in audio settings and clicking APPLY, the screen never changes back to the previous one before selecting the gear tool. Sometimes I wait for a few minutes and it will eventually change back to previous screen. I usually have to hit cancel if I need to get back to the patch. The other issue is that in instrument modules, the preset shown does not reflect what I have selected when saving the patch, such as the Moog Model D synth. Thanks for your prompt response and this great app!
Click/tap “Apply” twice.
MG2 no bends working okay, although with more latency than with MG3 Expressive. Things are working as expected with MG3 these last few days with no crazy noise, etc. CPU usage around 9-10 o’clock on the meter graphic.
