I have been in and out , on and off lately. My hands have becomed painful once more, especially the left one so I will have to stop playing guitar for a while (I hope) and hopefully with no Carpal Tunnel surgery in sight.
I will be in the forum but for a while I have to stop testing - making some videos and playing.
Maybe Ole could create a ‘Brain to MIDI’ interface so that I can play with my mind but I think it won’t happen very soon, at least without neuralink …
I wish you a fast recovery, pasha! Hope you get some time to relax and recover. Thank you for all your testing and feedback. We’ll be here, and still in beta once you are back
@ pascha, you are an important man here and I will be happy if you continue to participate, no matter in what way.
Don’t you also like to play ambient stuff?
Would temporary your guitar as a slide guitar on your knees with a massive slide bar like lapsteel guitar be worth a new discovery for you? MG3 offers a lot of possibilities here too…
@Pascha, I wish you all the best for the future and please don’t give up!
Thanks for your wishes! I love Music too much. It breaks my heart to look at my guitar knowing I cannot play it (doctors say 7 to 15 days if I am lucky)
However, recently, I got the Ableton Live 12.2 upgrade which brings in Expressive Chords: a great included plugin that allows you to play one finger chords placed along a specific progression (prebuilt). Expressive Chords | Ableton. You can also build your progression but that’s advanced as I do not play piano (but I can play it via MG£HEX). I was trying to use it with the guitar via MG3 even if its natural trigger it’s a Launchpad or Ableton Push. Then my hand throwed me an error in the form of burning pain… and I had to stop. However I have a Launchpad so I can trigger those chords and compose music so at least I can avoid abandoning music in full for a while.
After many diagnostics and doctors, I have an initial CTS condition, made worse by my other conditions. Luckily surgery is at least one year away. I still have to rest until end of August to stabilize my body challenged by too many NSDS’s. Then I can start theraphy and if I do not over abuse my hands and arms I can skip surgery year after year. However Surgery is there and always be the option if everything goes wrong in the meantime.
So hoping that all will be fine in the end I’ll take a seasonal break from my stressful IT Job.
I have played a little two days ago being very careful and MG3 is as I remember. Great!
Wish me best vibrations, and send me MIDI CC 99 (healing )
Back from holiday, hands did not benefit from 15 days w/o mouse, computer keyboard and guitar/bass.
Only improvement has been marginal so I’d point to job (mouse/keyboard) as a principal cause of my problems. Here and there I feel pain in both wrists. In any case after 50 days off I have decided to start playing again with moderation. Fingers have lost some dexterity but all is all there where it should be. Next week I’ll get my blood analyzed and if all is back to normal, I can start therapy. Now I perceive one of my guitars as ‘high action’ compared to the other two. I’ll be back @work next Monday and we’ll see how it goes. I plan to use AI and Dictation more to avoid writing physically.
I am finally back with some new music.
MG3 was heavily used in the process.
So thanks Ole for developing this magic software and Lofileif to help us understand, although my knowledge has become rusty later due to long stop, without forgetting all the others on this forum, inspiring with innovation.
You can find the new song here:
The ending solo it’s a Zebra Patch driven by MG3 and you can listen some electric pianos, brass and some pads. Except the acoustic piano all was played via MG3.
Thank you for the beautiful song and great playing, Pasha!
It sounds like your hands are feeling better and it was so nice to read you started playing and feel happy!! I guess most of us don’t have much pain and yet when nothing hurts we forget to appreciate that all is good and forget to be happy. So, thank you for this reminder, and thank you for your support to us here and thank you for your hands.
Thanks for kind words JamO! That was my learning too. When I have hands in good order sometimes I waste that goodness playing along with youtube tracks. Now I try to create new sounds and compose as much as I can. Playing along tracks remains but to test sounds and for training.
Hi Kimyo, Thanks so much!
I am not a lefty player but we have one thing in common… Linux!
I like ‘back in the saddle’ especially the old Fender ones with those screws protruding up… and scratching your palm (here’s why I have never learned to play palm mutes)
