TLDR; I have tried most general advice but MG2 (Free Version) still plays two or three notes stuttering around the note that I have fretted.
Hi, I’m having trouble with double notes.
Ive followed the set up guide and all other readily available advice.
What am I missing?
I want to buy the software but I cant until its working for me.

Ableton 12
Presonus 1824c
Ibanez RG421 - Bridge, full tone, in tune, good intonation.
Direct, not clipping, very clean.
MG2 Plugin (Free version)
Problem: I fret a note and it plays two or three notes stuttering around the note that I have fretted.
I tried to play a very clean scale and it still jumps around (more note doubling).
Eg. I play the note C on the guitar.
The MG2 Instrument will then play C
But it will also stutter and play a staccato D and Bb.
Troubleshooting so far:
Re-checking all readily available advice and set-up guides.
Changing playing technique
Checking tuning and intonation
Being cautious of things like “over fretting” or “sloppy technique”.
Assessing gain structure.
Attempting to simplify the audio signal by means of compression, gate and eq.
The opposite from above - Playing clean with nothing on the signal.
Changing settings in the MG2 Plugin like the Noise gate and Midi velocity.
I’m outputting midi to Serum successfully but with a horrible amount of excess notes (double or wrong notes)
I’m having less trouble with the built in instruments (MG2 Native) but the problem still exists there.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer me and thank you for your time.
i would start with standalone first. this will help you define the problem, for instance if the same issue occurs in standalone you can eliminate ableton as a possible cause.
mg2 didn’t have any of the problems you describe in my ableton setup. but you may be better off starting with the mg3 beta.
preprocessing the signal (compression, gate and eq) is not recommended iirc. as you’ve done, work with a clean signal while trying to figure things out.
you’ve been very thorough, i don’t see any obvious suspects.
Ha! Captain Obvious often finds things that are wrong, he’s a cool guy and sometimes a life saver when you are performing/working live!
Pitchbend setting has been toggled - to no avail.
Yes, notes exceeding a whole step from the target are occurring.
No other midi data is present in the session.
No issues driving Amp sims - Tonex / Line 6
When I get back to to the studio I’ll try the standalone MG3 beta as Kimyo recommended and go from there.
