here’s an interesting option. $749, ‘shipping soon’.
The OCTAVE HS-1 aims to introduce to the market the very 1st ultra-portable, cost effective hardware VST host based on a x86-64 architecture (modified/debloated Windows 11 image) that can load up-do-date VST2/VST3 protocol plugins of your choice directly from VST vendors without any further modifications to their structure.
It has an ASIO compatible 24-bit audio interface (integrated in the same box) that will allow to load any VST plugin software at ultra-low latency. Say goodbye to firmware updates! YOU are in charge of your product. We also made sure that no interruptions will occur from the modified operating system so that you have a smooth performing experience.
OCTAVE HS-1 is also mic stand compatible (3/8-16 thread at the back), meaning you can freely attach it to any mic stand of your choice. No more looking at the floor for any preset changes. A FREE bluetooth 4+4 (8 button) footswitch with an expression pedal input makes sure that you can rapidly change the presets of your choice in an instance.
Here is the tech sheet of our product (the pdf is still a work in progress but you should get the basic info you need). We’ll expand our media presence very soon. Tech sheet

I’m in conversation with @sophocha on the Gig performer forum, where you can find lots of thoughts on this product as well as a link to download the technical specifications.
I totally missed that the HS-1 even existed, I only found out about it just now thanks to Paul Driessen (the developer of the amazing plugin PD Space Guitar 2).
Here is a short video demo of the Octave HS-1 using MIDI Bass 3:
I just wish it had more RAM than 16GB and a larger SSD, like 1TB, but all in all I can see myself buying the Octave HS-1 instead of a handheld gaming PC with touchscreen (which I planned using for music production).
For now, you can uninstall it + disable it via Group Policy so it doesn’t launch (also disable it in Microsoft Edge). We are working on a ‘delete AI script’ but needs to be tested 1st before we implement.
For edge, we haven’t see a huge spike on CPU (probably because our windows image is debloated significantly) but we are monitoring and taming Startup Boost and task manager apps + WebView but we don’t have Widgets installed nor other apps that use this but overall our Windows image is working as efficiently as possible.
The only clean way to remove Edge, OneDrive, and some other programs is to reinstall Microsoft using any EU country as the installation location. Due to the “Digital Markets Act”, Microsoft is required to allow the uninstallation of such programs. It works perfectly, and neither language nor time zone is affected or restricted.
The HS-1 does indeed seem to tick a lot of boxes for what I am looking for, and I would of course be onboard with testing its capabilities when it comes to the things I am using MIDI Guitar for. I am a Mac-only guy as of now, but I am sure that doesn’t have to be a negative. There is aways something to learn from working with new setups, but I am obviously not familiar with the copilot and edge issued mentioned here.
