Photonic hex pickup (Sonicstate video)

Well this looks interesting!

Also nice that it seems to be intended to work with usb out for simple cable management.

i love that it works with nylon strings. but i can’t see where i’d place it.

@JamO would this sort of hex pickup be compatible with MIDIGuitar HEX?

The concept is promising, the downside is the huge box, and frankly, I couldn’t play if I couldn’t rest my hand on the bridge or if the pickup blocked the area I wanted to play. He presented this prototype some time ago; I hope he continues to develop it.

Yes - hopefully the final version (if it ever comes to fruition) will be more lean.

Here is a guitar with optical hexaphonic PU, but you need a matching Boss synth or breakout cable plus 6-8 channel input device.

Thanks for sharing. However, part of the beauty with the Kitter is that you (allegedly) have a digital USB interface, and as such can plug it directly into you computer - no synth or breakout cables required!

That’s true, but the sound, as you can hear in the video, is quite bad.

Yes, but if it could then be used by MIDI Guitar Hex, and the signal is good, then I could route it to any MIDI based Virtual Instrument or Sample Library - which is my end goal anyways.
