I purchased a license over a week ago, and MG2 activation went through with no issues.
When trying to activate MG3, after entering my email in the activation field, I received an email with a link to an authorisation code and I tried to copy and paste it into the Activation field, but somehow, the code already showed up in that field and the field was not editable.
In any case, I pressed Activate, but the activation process did not go through. I tried this process again and again, but I never got another email with a link to the authorisation code.
I checked my spam folder and all my other folder, and no, no other email ever came through.
The first (and only) link I received expired and even if I click on that link, it won’t show the authorization code anymore.
Maybe you are tying to activate it on a second computer?
In this case you need to go through the process again - enter your email and you will get a different code for the machine. Otherwise you are doing it right. The code will automatically paste in, when you copy it and you need to press “Activate”.
Nope, I only have one computer that I’m using for all music related applications. I installed only one instance of the MG3.
I’m not receiving any emails when I try to activate MG3, I only received one email the very first time I tried to activate MG3, but for whatever reasons, that activation process did not go through, and that was it.
All my subsequent attempts to activate MG3 were always done on the same computer.
I tried to re-install MG3, same thing: I don’t get any emails with the activation code.
when i purchased mg3, i used paypal, and my activations were being sent to my paypal email rather than the one i had registered with previously. not likely, but i thought i’d bring it up.
I can see on the server that the last request it had from you is from 4 or 5 days back, so you are probably right it doesnt get the request now and something must be blocking the request to jamorigin.com. Could it be you run the MG3 plugin inside a DAW which blocks the request? If so, please try MG standalone.
@JamO
Thank you kindly for looking into this.
I have a DAW (Reaper) and I have tried sending the request from both inside the DAW and from the standalone version as well. So if your server is not getting my requests, perhaps something else is blocking them.
I just deleted MG3 and reinstalled it, tried again to send an activation request but I did not get any replies. I will try again with my anti-virus (Avast) turned off.
I think we’re getting at the bottom of this issue. The AntiVirus program had nothing to do with it.
However, I started it again inside the DAW and MG3 is showing that is it s ACTIVATED, but the standalone version does not and and I cannot activate it.
So it kind of makes sense that MG3 is not sending out a request for authorisation code if it was already activated in DAW, but the next question is why is the standalone version no seeing the activation code but the VST does?
Ah, ok. We need to improve the communication here, but now I understand.
It looks like you run the HEX tracker for hexaphonic pickups in the standalone version, whereas you run the standard MG3 in Reaper. But the HEX version is a different (add-on) license. If you switch over to the standard MG3 tracker it will not ask for the HEX license.
Thank you kindly for your reply, I’m starting to understand now.
My bad, I didn’t quite get that the Hex needs a separate - add on - license. In any case, I have tested the HEX version in demo mode with a VG-800, and from my point of view, this is most likely how I will use MG3: in HEX mode with a VG-800 or a similar hex interface.
What do I need to do to get an add-on license for HEX mode?
Sorry, I got confused here, I thought I already got a license, I didn’t quite understand the license I got did not cover the HEX application.
Honestly, I’m only interested in using MG3 in HEX mode, but it doesn’t look like there is a MG3 version for HEX only. I will most likely not use the MG3 without the HEX mode.
JamO explained it already. The Hex version is a add-on option to the MG3 version. In any case you need the MG3 version first (which you obviously have) and then you can choose to buy the Hex package on top of it.
The issue I’m having is that the MG3 (HEX included) is a BETA version and in my mind, when you’re asking people to try out a BETA version and provide some feedback, one would normally not ask for money too. Respectfully, this is not how the world of BETA testing works. I know this because I also wrote tones of code in my career.
I wrongly assumed that I would buy an MG2 license and do some BETA testing using some kind of a temporary authorization code. Again, I apologize for not understanding how you structured your BETA testing, but I will not be using your product in the future. The money I paid for the MG2 license: my loss.
