Saving MIDI device settings in a patch

Hi.

Scenario is: using a foot pedal (CC 7) to control MG3 Mixer Master Volume(MV).

If I tie one of the 9 primary CC knobs to the MV, that volume level will save with the patch and restore when I reload the patch. This is as desired.

However, if I tie a CC knob from a MIDI Device to the MV, and then save the patch, when the patch is reloaded the MV will be at zero and the patch will be silent. This is not what I’m aiming for. I want my patches to sound when recalled.

In general, I think I would want and expect every parameter to reload with the value I saved it at - not to be zeroed out or otherwise altered.

I was hoping to “save” the use of a primary CC knob by making use of the MIDI Device instead for CC 7.

So, is this something that can/should be fixed up-the-road, or is it a design feature that serves a particular purpose?

Thanks to whomever can enlighten me further on that, as well as on any other “tricks” I might use to “save” primary CC knobs.

The answer is: Use a DAW/host and MG3 (standalone) together until MG3 is out of beta. Connect your MIDI controllers (including MG3 for pitch-to-MIDI) at the DAW/host level. The kind of issue you mention is generally addressable in a pro DAW/host environment.

If you’re testing things out, remember it is just that: testing.

There are still plenty of issues to iron out. While user feedback is valuable, setting realistic expectations is more useful to users at this moment. I probably don’t need to say it again but MG3 is still under development.
