[SOLVED] MG3 Tracking drop D

This has been requested years ago so here’s a 2026 Request:
Alternative Turnings - At least drop E to D.

also a few good MG3 Forum Member ideas to try:

Currently, MG3 only recognises input from pitches Low E and above — Click on the low E2 on MG3 and it says “Sorry it can’t go any lower … Call back Later”.

If you don’t need to (or are able not to) hear the original guitar sounds then you can tune to drop D (or DADGAD as I do) place a capo on fret 2 and use midi transpose to shift down.

I simply play in DADGAD capo 2 anyway so can use my guitar sound as well or it does interfere with midi sounds.

Sorry for being a noob, I literally only bought the full licence for MG3 today. Where do I access alternate tunings within the plugin? I use a 6 string but am in drop C & sometimes lower. Infinite thanks :raising_hands::relieved_face:

To get access to the string re-tuning module a MIDI Guitar 3 Hex licence and appropriate hardware is needed.

you do not need to configure mg3 for your tuning, just for the lowest note (i think c2 is the limit). the trade off is increased latency.
