Studio One unable to hear reference live recording

Hi I’m using studio one pro 7 on Windows 11. I recorded a live guitar reference track with midi guitar 2 sending midi to a different instrument track. I loaded a virtual Presence guitar instrument and it plays back the midi just fine, life is good…

However, I want to play back my original live recording for reference. No matter what I try, I’m unable to get sound from the reference audio track. All other audio tracks play just fine.

Has anyone encountered this? I must be overlooking something, but I’m new to MG2 so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Excuse my possible ignorance but couldn’t you simply duplicate the recorded D.I. guitar onto another track for reference? Or deactivate the MG2 plugin and play the track as is?
