Hi friends, I cannot for the life of me to get my Sub6 pickups to work with MG3 Hex. I’m running through Scarlett 18i20 in Logic Pro. I have a baritone guitar, but it’s not working with any strings at all.
Guitar is plugged in through Inputs 3-8
Select tracker as Hex
Set Audio Devices: Input Scarlett, Channel 1-8 (HEX PICKUPS), Output to DAW
Hit Apply twice…
It appears to read nothing but the signal is definitely coming in. Which channel should I put it on? How should I organize the workflow?
logic may be part of the problem. the latest auv3 version will be out shortly:
Changelog 3.0.67:
New AUv3 version (not quite, but soon) available on Apple TestFlight. Opening dedicated audio (hex) inputs works on this AUv3 version, to make hexaphonic routing really easy in Logic or other DAWs.
while you’re waiting please check to see if you can get things working in standalone mode, this shouldn’t be a problem.
i don’t know if the updated versions also work this way but notes below the ‘typical’ range are not displayed. ie: if you play a D2 on the E2 string it won’t show. it’ll be easier to check this with a high string, which will likely be input #8. set the lowest note to match your guitar’s tuning.
Ah okay I’ll have to wait for the next AUv3 version then.
Until then, trying standalone on the highest string, seems to work. It also grabs the second highest string, but that’s probably a pickup issue, it should only be pulling in one string into the audio track (the entire point of the Subsix).
mg3 can run inside logic or another daw, or it can run as a standalone.
in addition, mg3, in either case, can use the ‘standard’ guitar tracker or the hex (or cello etc) tracker.
once you have it working fully in standalone mode with the hex tracker there is another option, you can use the network option to send audio/midi to a second copy of mg3 inside logic. but most likely the upcoming update will be an easier option.
