My rig: Boss sy 1000 sub out to midi guitar 3. Controller 3 tab pedal for the tempo.
Is there a way to tab the tempo with the pedal over a midi controller?
Thanks

The BOSS SY-1000 can generate and transmit MIDI clock over USB or 5-pin MIDI.
If you’re interested in using the SY-1000’s MIDI clock, you would need to use it in conjunction with a DAW so the signals get passed through to the target plug-ins, including MG3. MG3 standalone does not respond to MIDI clock directly.
The master tempo on the SY-1000 would be generated by your tap switch and the DAW can be set to follow this.
Alternatively, you can layer a CC message on the SY-1000 control switch and use that to trigger the tap tempo in a DAW, such as Ableton Live.
if your synth/device/vst has midi-addressable tap tempo you should be able to route the sy-1000 pedal to it using mg3.
this is not optimal, obviously, but could serve as a workaround until mg3 allows tap tempo.
Thanks for the feedback! Do I understand correctly? MG3 doesn’t recognize tap tempo or MIDI clock. That’s a drawback. I’ll try it using a DAW. Thank you!
Yes, you understand correctly. Note that the BPM value displayed in MG3 passes to plugins correctly. The issue is manually setting the actual tempo in MG3. You can attach a modulator as in the image below but it is not a logical way to to control BPM/tempo.
You are better off using a DAW to take control of BPM/tempo controlled via tapping in a value.
