Even when selecting the specific VST3 folder on my macbook, the standalone beta version only shows me Audio Units. It constantly displays the amount of audio units found.
Is there a way to change the “default location” to scan? Even when selecting a specific folder, it still scans audio units..
No idea how to fix this. Does anyone experience a similar thing?
I’m using an Apple M4 Pro and running the 3.0.66 beta version.
MG3 can only load AUs (AUv2 and AUv3) for now. There has been only very few complaints, so I assume just about any Mac plug-in exists as AU. This is motivated by making plug-in scanning fast/instant and completely safe, whereas VST scanning involves actually running every .vst file untrusted and requires MG to lowest possible security entitlements.
Keep in mind that VSTs are tested more than twice as much as AUs, because they are cross platform compatible with Windows also. AUs tend to be less reliable/more buggy as a result.
Thanks for freedback!
I’ll experiment a bit about this and figure out whether this requires a separate MG3-Mac-VST-loading version, or we can support this under the current app entitlements
