Windows 10 - Surge XT I/O devices don't share a common sample rate

win10x64
Any windows users know how to change internal windows sample rate?

Trying to use MG3 as a standalone to link to and play SURGE XT, because it has MPE.
MG3 MINI is receiving audio
However, when trying to setup the Audio, “EXCLUSIVE” is a functioning option but it will only play this one synth. No other audio (mp3, web browser, etc.) . If “Low Latency” is used there is an error “input / output don’t share a common sample rate”
It’s the same hardware always set to 24bit 48Hz., so I don’t understand the why it would not see this.

what is your audio device? (motu audio wave?)

why not load surge xt directly in mg3?

is asio an option instead of ‘windows audio’?

you may need to disable system audio in order to provide exclusive access to surge.

MOTU Ultralite USB

I’m trying to connect MG3 standalone to any MPE synth, the one I have is Surge X but have never used it befor and this is the first time I’ve ever seen this warning.
…also trying to get MG3 to connect to Kontakt 6. MG3 is getting audio in and tracking, but not connecting to the synth.

Why are you unnecessarily complicating things? Insert Surge XT or Kontakt directly into a new MG3 patch.

because I want to use MG3 as a MIDI CONTROLLER only. To connect to other software.

Can you give us an example of “other software” that you can not load and control in MG3?

  1. Why do you need an audio input for Surge XT if you’re driving it with MIDI?
  2. Have you tried unselecting the input setting? That would be my first move since the issue seems to be that the I/O are clashing.
  3. @kimyo mentioned ASIO…probably worth exploring.

Disclaimer: I’m not a Windows user anymore and won’t even consider touching it until MS offcially delivers its MIDI overhaul later in 2025.

If you use LoopMIDI to control the input to Surge XT it works fin. Don’t select any audio input in the I/O settings of Surge XT since the input is via MIDI. As output select your audio interface.
