"Your DAW isn't sending any audio to MIDI GUITAR."

Hello. Using Pro Tools 2024.10.2 on MacOS Sonoma.

I get this message when I’m trying to use it, but MIDI Guitar 2 works fine this way.

check your microphone permissions.

i’m not familiar with protools - is bluecat necessary to run mg3?

in bluecat patchwork on windows i sometimes have to set mg3 up and then restart or reload patchworks.

I think due to Pro Tools’ AAX plugin format that the OP needs to use a plugin that can host AU/VST plugin types.

As for the message, that usually indicates that the track is not armed or the sample buffer is set to large. I’m not very familiar with PT so the routing screenshot doesn’t mean much to me…Can you adjust the things I mentioned?

Hey thanks so much for the reply!

So the sample buffer was 64. The plugin I’m using to host it is called Blue Cat’s Patchwork. Tried both the AU and VST version and the same result. Track is armed on Pro Tools. Not sure the Patchwork plugin has the ability to represent itself as ‘armed’ - what is the functionality of having it lock you out based on? The way it worked in MIDI Guitar 2 seemed just fine!

Have you tried to use a mono channel, or how is your input configuration?

Yes, I’ve tried both mono and stereo… It should work stereo right?

Yes, it should work if only one channel of the stereo input is fed. It was just an idea to check since I’m not familiar with Pro Tools.

Assuming you’re performing parts, I’d suggest using MG3 in standalone for now until a clear solution presents.

You could also use BCA Connector, one on the master bus of MG3 standalone and one on a track in PT. That will move your audio into the DAW.

There are probably more ways to work around this but this is just what’s coming to me now.

Thanks! Yeah I’ve been just rerouting it from the Standalone version for now. Hopefully there’s a solution at some point to this.

Bumping just to see if there is any official response to this!

not official, but have you tried mg3 in patchwork in standalone mode?

if it doesn’t work that way it’s not likely to work in protools.

Thanks so much for the reply!

It actually does work in Patchwork as a Standalone plugin!

Okay, just an update, I’ve launched the plugin in Blue Cat’s Patchwork inside of Pro Tools as a VST3 instead of AU and I’ve bypassed the notification that I need to be input monitoring!

Now the problem is it is saying that my daw’s H/W buffer size is 1024! (tried at every buffer size and it still says this)… Interesting
