MG3, Logic and Focusrite

Same here, I use a $100 guitar with 10 year old strings and a no-name interface regularly, to try to get a feeling of the worst possible user experience and its really no issue or me.

Yes, Ableton should do a bit better than Logic because you can use the VST, which can transport MIDI directly into Ableton, whereas Logic only accepts virtual midi from the AU.

Guldgrude, I cant decipher what happened there or reproduce it here right now, but eventually we’ll figure it out. If it wont restart normally, its either related to a dodgy plugin that is loaded at the startup patch, or your Mac refusing to open you interface. The last resort is to delete the settings file:
~/Library/Group Containers/X6D2Q4W5A8.midiguitargroup/MIDI Guitar 3.settings

Thanks JamO and pasha. I will start with restarting the computer, then maybe delete the MIDI Guitar 3.settings.

After restarting the computer all works again. Wonder what happened there? Doing crazy bass with the guitar in Logic @ I/O Buffer 32 is great fun!

I’m also happily on the basic end …

  1. Squier guitar with $29usd Musiclily HSS loaded pickguard into a NUX Mighty plug pro.

  2. eBay electric violin which I bypass the built-in electronics and use a KNA violin pickup instead then into the Might plug pro.

MPP is usually audio in and audio out into studio monitors is usually via a very basic UMC22 UMC202 - all works great

Latency is fine for what I do.

Thanks JamO. I use the AU Version of all plugins I got in Ableton. I didn’t know that VST is better than AU so now I got more to think about. Usually I thought not a better idea to mix formats so I took the path for all AU.

Neither did I know, I have always thought AU was a “better” choice on the MAC so I have always chosen that path in front of VST path. So should I change now to VST folder to get better performance in MG? Or what path is automatically chosen in MG3 when clicking “CLICK HERE TO SCAN FOR PLUGINS” (we get no choice here, right?)
