MIDI Guitar 2 iOS Issues

Hello,

I’ve been using the stand alone OMEC Teleport MIDI Interface and purchased and unlocked MIDI Guitar 2 on a 2018 iPad Pro 10.5 since 2018 to access Garageband and SampleTank sounds during live performances. For the most part this has worked consistently and without issue. There have been recurring issues with the interface being recognized but most of the time a hard reset of the ipad would fix the issue. I updated the iOS to 17.7.9

Recently I have been experiencing issues with the guitar sound coming through with the sample sounds, as opposed to just the sample sounds. When I open IN / OUT on MG2 the Output Channels drops the previous loaded codecs and then the mixed guitar and sample sound rather than just sample as before.

I also recently installed MG2 on an iPad 12 PRO Max and 90% of the time it will not recognize the interface when plugged in, but rather shows iPad Microphone in the IN / OUT section. I have gotten it to work once but the audio was distorted no matter where I had the gain set.

I am also having the same issues as outlined in the thread linked below.

Guitar sound always output, even with master at 0

Hi - I’m new to midi guitar 2. It seems incredibly cool. But the incoming guitar signal is always passed through to the output, even with the master on 0. I feel like this is probably a rookie error, but I can’t figure it out. I’m on ipad. My interface is an Omec Teleport and my reverb app (altispace) goes fully wet, so I don’t think it’s hardware or OS config. Any help welcome. Thanks! [IMG_0002]

Any advice that anyone could provide on resolving these issues would be fantastic!

Is this unique to MG2 or does it happen in other audio applications too?

Have you tested your iPad (12 Pro MAX??? No such thing exists…) with any other interfaces to verify that it’s not an OMEC issue? I don’t own or use an OMEC — I only recall hearing about them when users are having problems with them.

Also, you might want to get on Apple TestFlight for the beta release of MG3. I can’t really see any compelling reason to use MG2 these days when MG3 is available. MG3 resolves various issues that have cropped up for MG2 users.

Thanks for chiming in! I accidentally typed iPad 12 Pro Max (thinking of my iPhone 12 Pro Max). Yes, there is only the iPad 12 Pro, which is what I am attempting to utilize with the OMEC Teleport and MG2. I have not tested the iPad 12 Pro with any other interfaces as I don’t have any.

I have been doing all my work with OMEC Teleport and MG2 on an iPad Pro 10.5" up to this point. It usually works consistently but have recently been having issues. Now, today it’s working fine?!!

I am really only interested in using the OMEC because I am a guitar player and it is a pedal form interface that I have on my board and can engage/disengage with a tap of my foot (other interfaces don’t allow for this) to trigger different instrument sounds in Garage band and SampleTank when performing live.

I will check out MG3 and see if it ends up working and report back.
