I could have phrased that better, sorry. Just, I meant, since the SY-1000 has a clear “DIRECT OFF” entry in the USB config settings that I was surprised it would be omitted from the VG-800 — and also wondered if the GM-800 had the same USB config (or lack of).
Can’t get stereo image no matter what interface using, Foscusrite Gen 4 or Boss VG-800. Using M4 mac mini. How to reproduce: Place a synthesier in a track in MG3, using the synthesizer’s pan control, notice that there is no panning. Now open same synthesizer in daw, and you’ll see that it correctly pans left and right.
All you are doing by selecting re-synth is you are shutting off the output–that is hardly turning direct monitoring off. Re-synth is for feeding recorded separate string signals back into the VG-800. It is not a direct monitor off feature.
Here’s a little “hack” that should work temporarily and demonstrate some incredible potential…
The Bass Tracker can track a guitar tuned down as far as E1.
As a test yesterday, I retuned a GK-loaded guitar (via the SY-1000) from E2 (sixth string) down to F1 (fifths tuning: F1 through E4) and output this as a mono signal into the Bass Tracker. It performed seamlessly playing monophonic material!
Of course, it will similarly work with any drop tunings you can throw at it as long as they fall within the detection range of the tracker you select.
Note: This feature is intended to demonstrate the recent developments made to the Bass Tracker.
Just replying to myself because I finally had a chance to briefly test this:
When transfering an MG3 preset/patch from macOS to Windows, the preset will load the VST3 version of the saved Audio Unit and not throw up an error if the same plugins are present. But the plugin’s parameters will not be recalled except in some cases. Every third-party plugin in any of my own MG3 presets from macOS loaded default presets.
However, for some user (@pasha) and factory presets, parameters loaded: Surge XT, TripleCheese.
It was a bit of a loose inspection…it could be that I had some of my own user presets for teh third-party plugins in the macOS versions that I haven’t brought over to Windows 11. Or it could be the way some plugins manage themselves across different platforms.
Here are more wishes, how about adding “CC to note” so we can do key switches with a pedal.
All these “samplers” rely on keyboard players left hand for note articulation, we guitar players have to rely on our feet.
Again, this is something that I currently use with external software but if we could save it per patch it would be instant results suitable for even live performance.
In my patches I try hard to use freewares. So you’re saying that because I mainly use AU this can create problems to Windows users and it’s not translated? Good to know.
Not exactly. I’m just trying to nail down how the same plugins work in saved MG3 presets when transfered across different OSes. I was surprised that your presets worked on Windows while some of my own didn’t. I use a mix of free and paid software so it’s not that…it requires closer analysis.
As of last week, I don’t have free/regular access to Windows 11 or iPadOS for testing (devices are on loan to family) on a daily basis so I hope other users can chime in on this stuff.
Which DAW is that?
I guess we can make it optional to use large buffers, but we still need to warn all those who accidentally have a setup with large buffers.
Thank you for including me in the beta test
I’d like to let you know that everything displays perfectly with automatic scaling on my 8K monitor with an RTX 3060
Thanks
