MIDI Guitar 3, and the quest for infinite sustain

@kimyo I had various one throughout the years. Right now I have 2 Boss, a RC-3 and a stereo 500 which has dual loops with separate volumes, which is useful. And neither are flawed. They do what they can do well enough. Or their only flaw, in the context of what I’m looking for, is that they’re hardware. As for style, I’m an all kinds of genres looper user.

I’m not looking for any fancy functions in a digital looper. Just the basic ones—say like record, play, undo, overdub, undo overdub, stop—which most provide. As I wrote earlier, there’s an issue with the information available on how to actually operate them, in my case in GigPerformer coupled with a MC6 Pro. For instance I’m looking at Mobius. Some people manage to have it work with a similar setup as mine, but there are too many gaps in what they shared for me to have it work. Or I tried Enso, and all it offers to map the bindings is that it “waits” for a button on a controller to be moved, which might work fine with a hand-controller, but to use it with a foot-controller, within GP5, and with a MC6, one needs actual CCs mapping information.

In any case, the search goes on. I reached out to those who have similar setup, and they might respond. I’m also looking at the possibility of using a looper app, as opposed to a plugin, which potentially could be routed back into GP5 using something like Loopback or the loopback feature of my RME Babyface Pro FS. But that’s another story.

it’s old and no longer supported but i think ambiloop is worth a look.

the midi control setup looks to be highly configurable.

It’s for Windows. I’m on Mac. But thanks.
