MIDI Guitar 3 beta for iOS is now available!

Thanks so much for the reply. Understood re: midi fx. Can I ask which daws the included auv3 works with on iPad/iOS? Out of interest, I have the same question for desktop use on Mac. As far as I’ve read Logic doesn’t support midi out from an fx but I could clearly be wrong :grin:

Yes I can use the app in standalone mode and route midi into Cubasis but I perhaps wrongly assume this will introduce more latency. I would also much rather do it all within the saw where possible.

Thanks again for your help.

In regards to midi output, can I ask where the options are hidden ala MG2 for choosing output type such as Virtual MIDI and Network Seasion? I’m sure I’m missing something somewhere :grinning:

TIA!

Where did you read that?

I think @Cambler is referring to Logic for iPadOS.

My answer is to this part, to be clear:

Wherever I supposedly read it, it’s clearly wrong. Moght be a corrupted memory issue :rofl: Logic for iPad doesn’t seem to want to play ball in this regard though. Can I be half right’ish?

Sorry, I’m mixing information from different forums, same poster. My bad :persevere:

I don’t know, I am afraid. I don’t use Logic on my (ancient) iPad.
Have you tried it yourself, and can’t get it to work?

Sorry not sure which bit you were asking about but in regards to midi options I installed MG2 again and can see the network session option and can feed it into Logic on desktop but I can’t see any option for this in MG3.

In regards to Logic on iPad I am not subbed at the moment but I’m pretty sure some folks on the Loopy Pro forum have said it doesn’t work on Logic for iPad (presumably due to no midi out on auv3 fx).

I’m sure I mentioned on the Loopy Pro forum (still Audiobus in my head) that this feature hasn’t arrived in the iOS/iPadOS version yet – so you’re looking for something that doesn’t exist. Selectable ports for MIDI output was only introduced in the most recent version of MG3 beta for macOS.

One user, Schmotown, on the Loopy Pro forum said that there was an issue with MIDI out when using MG3 AUv3 in Logic (iPadOS). It’s probably safe to assume that it’s the same issue as experienced with Cubasis/AUv3MIDI FX.

Unfortunately, my iPad is old and doesn’t support Logic for iPadOS, so I can’t confirm for you whether or not MG3 AUv3 works there. All my iPadOS experiments involved AUM, where MG3 functions as expected.

The solution: Use MG3 standalone for now.

Sorry, didn’t see the mention of the midi options not being available in MG3 on the Loopy Pro forum (yes I have to keep reminding myself of the name change as well!).

And yes standalone is the way to go for now and working well. Latency is good in standalone after spending more time with it.

thank you! my friend.i already install it

Is the iOS version still limited to 44.1 or 48 kHz? On the iPad i run everything at 96kHz and I can’t test right now

I just bought an iRig interface I am am eager to test MG3 on iOS. I downloaded the testflight app. When I open it says I need to be invited by a developer and it asks for a code. How do I get a code? Sorry if this information is already available on this site, I was not able to track it down.

Search keywords:
“TestFlight” and “Invitation”

Or

Click here:

I saw that post, but it still does not state what code I should enter in TestFlight.

I believe you need an “invitation email”, probably @JamO can help with that.

I just tested this on my wife’s iPad/account as a new TestFlight user and and it’s really very simple. Here are the steps:

  1. Install TestFlight on the iPad you intend to use MG3 on;
  2. On the same device, open this link on the iPad (as linked in my previous post);
  3. Accept. Done.
