Shameless/Unofficial first MIDI Guitar 3 BETA for Windows

@Dutti67 - Thanks for the feedback. I do have a desktop that is similar specs with 64GB RAM and that seems to be fine but once in a while it does glitch. I guess I may need a more powerful laptop later this year.
I’ve seen good and bad on Kontakt 7 but it’s on sale so I am thinking about picking it up. Are the strings nice sounding? I have the UVI Orchestral Suite and the Amadeus and they are pretty good. I guess I will see if I can find some videos of Kontakt to check it out.

Well the good news is that I’ve managed to get a good DPC report by disabling NVIDIA.
The bad news is - I’m still getting clicks.

As said before, with my 2012 Lenovo i5-3320M RAM 8GB, I have no problems with glitches or latency even with many plugins loaded.

The power of the processor and the amount of RAM will not prevent these problems if the computer is not optimised (unless you have a powerful machine like @Dutti67).
Mine wouldn’t support the patch below without problems if it hadn’t been optimised and you can see that the CPU isn’t under much strain when playing all strings.

which vst/vsti folders does this beta scan? maybe only VST3?
I have a lot of my plugins vst/vsti (vst2 versions) that are not listed in MG3, which I recon are installed in a custom folder (not the default or typical folders).
What I can do to scan and use those?
I understand and respect the time needed to develop the vst version etc, but maybe to add custom vst folders is a simple task which would help a lot…

I have a lot of duplicate VST’s so I can only presume it scans for both VST and VST 3. It did appear to find them in spite of custom folders I use.

I do wish it would identify which version of VST is being selected.

That’s great that there is a progress on Windows side, but I hope that VST version would follow soon, there is not a lot of usage for me for MG3 outside of my DAW.

MG3 found all your plugins even if they are in custom folders?
I also have many of them in vst3 and vst2 format, but I dont have any duplicated, so I though MG3 dont scanned my custom folders.

The VST plugin version and better VST scanning is coming soon.

First we need to finish checking all the plugins in the default locations :face_with_monocle:

Thank you  for the update :metal:

Hey there. Trying MIDI Guitar 3 on Win 11.

UNABLE to ENTER LICENSE KEY on WINDOWS:

@JamO I am not able to enter the license key for MG3 on my Windows PC (key received via entering email).
Is there another way to authorize the plugin for full use? It is causing interruptions otherwise and I’m not able to figure it out.

On MacOS, after entering my email, another small window opened where I entered the license key and it worked. Tried again on Win, and still I’m stuck only at the “BUY” window.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kind regards,
A

I just got back to you on a private message/

I found that I could not use cut&paste to enter my license. I had to actually type the code in to activate it. Possibly others will have the same issue. I recently watched your video on yt for windows users. It was great, pointing out some of the excellent features of Midi Guitar 3. One in particular caught my attention, the ability to set different pitchbend amounts on each panel. This product will be a true game changer. Cheers!

I couldn’t paste the key either, but it was short enough to manually enter it. I did make the mistake of not entering the “-” values, which didn’t get authorized without them.

For Saving the Patches it’s a bit of a pain to work with the file save dialog when you only want to Save. I am hoping the developer will be implementing the standard SAVE and SAVEAS functions we are used to. Thx

Ah, yes sure. For “save as…” I think the native dialog is a step forward, but you are right we need a simple “save”.

Are there plans to add a virtual MIDI output like on the mac version? This feature is great for polyphonic pickups:

  1. Have a DAW with 6 instances of MG3 running
  2. Configure each MG3 to output to a different virtual MIDI device
  3. Run one instance of Equator2 and have it accept input from the 6 devices

Without this feature, you have to run Equator2 in each instance of MG3, which makes changing presets a pain (gotta do it 6 times).

You can add the “MIDI Output” module found under MIDI machines and connect any MIDI device.

Looks like you’re using “loop midi” which serves the purpose of the virtual devices available on Mac. I could download that as a workaround.

I am available to test version 3 for Windows, I received the invitation email but it is only listed for Mac. Thanks!
